Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: 1/2 cup white or dark chocolate chips for extra flavor
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Tip:
Make sure to chill the dough for at least 10 minutes before baking. This allows the flavors to develop and keeps the cookies from spreading too much, resulting in thicker, chewier cookies!
